UEFA punished PSV on Friday for misconduct by its own supporters in the RC Lens stadium during the Champions League match in France. The Eindhoven residents receive a fine of 25,000 euros.

In addition, PSV receives a suspended sentence of two years. In the event of a subsequent violation, the club will not be allowed to take supporters to a European away match. PSV must also compensate for the damage.

During the away match against Lens on October 24, fireworks were set off in the away section. Objects were also thrown, and there was damage to the stands. PSV is investigating whether it can recover the fine and compensation from the perpetrators. Seven stadium bans have already been issued.

General Manager Marcel Brands is very disappointed with the punishment. “If you care about the club, then you don’t do this,” he says on the PSV website. “You not only harm the club, but also your fellow supporters. I hope that everyone realizes by now the consequences of such actions.”

The match in France ultimately ended 1-1. Last Wednesday, PSV won 1-0 at home, meaning that coach Peter Bosz’s team continues to have an eye on wintering in the Champions League.
