ZWOLLE – A woman is suspected of murdering 1-year-old Wafa by jumping into the IJssel with her from the quay in Kampen on October 13, 2022. She will appear in court on Thursday morning.
According to the Public Prosecution Service, she was carrying her in a baby carrier against her chest when she jumped into the water. She is also suspected of attempted murder of Wafa’s 3-year-old sister. She survived the jump into the water. According to the lawyer, there was no jump, but a fatal accident.
The woman says she slipped while feeding ducks with her children. The entire incident has been captured on video. According to the public prosecutor, this clearly shows that it was not an accident. An investigation has been conducted into the woman’s mental capabilities.
