The police arrested two people on Saturday evening for the fatal stabbing incident that took place in the city center of Enschede on Friday evening.

Two people were stabbed in the Van Lochemstraat in Enschede on Friday evening. On Saturday it was announced that the victims were two minor Syrian refugees. One victim died immediately, the other victim was taken to hospital with injuries.

The police suspect that a conflict was the reason for the stabbing. Nothing is yet known about the identities of the two suspects. The police say they are investigating the matter further.

There were many people on the street who experienced something of the stabbing. The police hear witnesses and conduct forensic investigations.

According to the regional newspaper Tubantia, the two victims were part of a group of five young people who got into a fight with another group. The two would not be in the Netherlands for long.
