DE WIJK – A 76-year-old man from Hardenberg was killed in a traffic accident involving two cars on the A28 near De Wijk in Drenthe. Two other passengers, a 70-year-old woman from Coevorden and a 78-year-old man from Hoogeveen, were seriously injured and taken to hospital.
The accident happened on Friday at 11:50 PM on the highway between Meppel and Hoogeveen. The car with the three occupants ended up in the ditch. The 76-year-old man from Hardenberg suffered serious injuries and died on the spot from his injuries, the police reported.
The driver of the other car, a 67-year-old man from Assen, was unharmed. The police are still investigating how the accident could have happened.
