A cargo plane skidded off the runway and landed in the sea while landing at Hong Kong International Airport, killing two people.
Local police report that the victims were airport employees. A Chinese newspaper reports that the plane appears to have struck a ground vehicle during landing and swept into the sea. The two employees who died were reportedly inside the vehicle.
According to the airport, the plane’s four crew members were rescued and taken to hospital.
According to Flightradar24, the plane involved was a Boeing 747 that was flying from Dubai. Hong Kong International Airport is located in the sea, and the northern runway, where the accident occurred, has water on both sides.
