North Korea claims a ‘deception operation’ has been carried out

SEOUL – North Korea says it has carried out “a deception operation” using explosives to test South Korea’s preparedness. According to top official Kim Yo-jong, sister of dictator Kim Jong-un, the South Koreans on two islands not far from the North Korean coast have been completely deceived.

South Korea reported on Friday and Saturday that artillery was fired by North Koreans and shells landed in the waters near the islands.

According to Kim, this shows that they cannot observe and detect properly. According to her, the story that the South Koreans scattered the shells into the sea is a lie made up because they did not know what was going on. She warned that North Korea will respond with great force if the South Koreans take hostile action, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported.

South Korean forces reported again on Sunday that North Koreans were firing in the waters off Yeonpyeong Island. The residents of the South Korean islands have been asked to stay indoors.

Seoul calls on North Korea to immediately cease military activities in its waters. These conflict with agreements that the two Koreas made regarding those waters in 2018.
