Sanne van Dijke has won a silver medal at the Grand Slam in Tbilisi in Georgia. In the class up to 70 kilograms, the 28-year-old judoka from Brabant lost the final to Barbara Matic from Croatia by ippon.
Van Dijke had previously won her matches against Martina Esposito from Italy, Ida Eriksson from Sweden and Anka Pogacnik from Slovenia by ippon. In the semi-finals, she defeated Aoife Coughlan from Australia with waza-ari. Hilde Jager was eliminated in the same class in the repechage by Elisavet Teltsidou from Greece.
Joanne van Lieshout won bronze in the class up to 63 kilograms. The 21-year-old judoka lost in the fourth round to Tang Jing from China, but then won in the repechage against Ketleyn Quadros from Brazil with ippon and in the battle for bronze with ippon against Laura Fazliu from Kosovo, who had previously eliminated Geke van den Berg.
