A significant crash in the Moto3 category unfolded earlier today during the sighting (formation) lap ahead of the race at Sepang, Malaysia, resulting in serious injuries for two riders.
Noah Dettweiler was moving slowly on the racing line, likely due to engine issues, when Jose Antonio Rueda failed to notice the Swiss rider and collided with him at full speed.
The collision was catastrophic: both riders were thrown from their bikes, leaving a substantial amount of debris scattered across the track.
Medical personnel on-site quickly attended to both riders before they were transported to the hospital.
Shortly after the incident, MotoGP confirmed through its official channels that both riders were at least conscious. However, no further details were provided at that time.
Subsequent reports from the Swiss publication Blick indicate that Rueda’s injuries are less severe than those of Dettweiler, revealing that the Spaniard has sustained a concussion and a broken hand.
Dettweiler’s team, CIP Green Power, issued a statement earlier: “This morning, during the sighting lap at Sepang, our rider Noah Dettweiler was involved in a serious accident. He was taken to the hospital in Kuala Lumpur and will require multiple surgeries.
“He is in good hands, and we kindly ask you to respect his privacy. We will not be sharing further details at this time.
“Noah is a true fighter, and the entire CIP Green Power team stands firmly behind him. We will keep you updated as soon as possible.”
