One of the standout features of the RB22 is its uniquely designed sidepods, which house the engine cooling system. Compared to the previously unveiled Ferrari and Mercedes, these sidepods are strikingly lower and taper sharply towards the rear. More photos of the RB22 can be found at the bottom of this article.
Red Bull will debut the car on Monday during the testing days in Barcelona. This week marks the first time teams will take to the track with their new cars. The testing week runs from Monday to Friday, but teams are limited to a maximum of three days of running.
The testing days in Barcelona are closed to both fans and media. Following this week, teams will have two additional three-day testing sessions in Bahrain on February 11-13 and February 18-20. The Formula 1 teams have been granted significantly more testing time this year due to major regulatory changes coming into effect.
For Red Bull and Verstappen, this year promises to be particularly intriguing, independent of the regulatory changes. The Austrian team is set to develop its own engines for the first time.
Last year, Verstappen narrowly missed out on the world title to Lando Norris by just two points. The new Formula 1 season officially kicks off on March 8 with the Australian Grand Prix.
