Atletico Madrid banned a fan for life

Spanish football club Atlético Madrid has imposed a life ban on a supporter of the team who was identified by the police for throwing an object on the pitch during the local league derby against Real Madrid, reports the Reuters news agency.

The capital derby was stopped for about 20 minutes precisely because of the many objects that flew from the stands towards the goalkeeper of Real Madrid – Thibaut Courtois. It came after a goal for the visitors in the second half, but Atletico still equalized with an Angel Correa strike in stoppage time.

“Our security department will work together with the police until the identification of all those involved in the incident. They will receive indefinite bans from visiting the stadium,” reported Atletico, quoted by the Reuters agency.

The Spanish club adds that it is forbidden to wear clothes or masks in the stadium, which supporters can use to hide their identity.
