Arsenal beat Newcastle United 2-1 at St. James’ Park on Sunday after Gabriel Magalhães headed in from a Martin Ødegaard corner deep in injury time.
Newcastle had taken the lead after half an hour through Nick Woltemade, who tapped in a corner cross from Sandro Tonali. Ten minutes earlier, Arsenal had also equalized from a corner when Declan Rice crossed to substitute Mikel Merino, whose header beat Sven Botman.
Botman played the entire match at centre back for Newcastle, while Timber was on the field for ninety minutes as a right back for Arsenal.
Arsenal climbs to second place, two points clear of Liverpool. The leaders lost to Crystal Palace (2-1) on Saturday.

Aston Villa recorded its first Premier League victory of the season, defeating Fulham 3-1 at home. Ollie Watkins scored his first Premier League goal of the season. Lamare Bogarde started; Donyell Malen came on in the closing stages; Ian Maatsen and Marco Bizot remained on the reserve bench. Villa will face Feyenoord in the Europa League at De Kuip on Thursday.
SK Brann beat Fredrikstad 1-0 in the Norwegian league. Emil Kornvig scored from a corner in the 35th minute. Brann is in third place and are FC Utrecht’s opponent in the Europa League on Thursday.
