Ajax without Weghorst and Dolberg to Marseille for Champions League match

Ajax will travel to Stade Vélodrome on Tuesday without forwards Kasper Dolberg and Wout Weghorst for the Champions League fixture, kick-off 21:00 CEST.

Dolberg suffered an abdominal wall injury in the topper against PSV and missed Saturday’s match against NAC Breda. The Dane remains sidelined with that problem.

Squad news

Weghorst, 33, was absent for the PSV game but returned to the squad for the NAC Breda match, coming on just before full time. It is unclear why the striker will be unavailable again in Marseille.

The absences up front are offset by the return of left-back Youri Baas. Baas missed Saturday’s game because of knee problems and was a doubt for the trip to Olympique Marseille, but he made it through in time.

Midfielder James McConnell will not be available on Tuesday. He has not been fit for some time and has played only two games for Ajax so far.

Heitinga’s team lost their opening Champions League match at home to Internazionale (0-2). Olympique Marseille went down 2-1 at Real Madrid in their first group game.
