Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti and Minister of Economy Artana Rizvanoli announced today in Pristina the first auction for solar energy, a park with a capacity of 100 megawatts, together with the chief administrator of the American Agency for International Development (USAID), Samantha Power.
The Government of Kosovo announced that Kurti expressed his gratitude to USAID and his team in Kosovo for their invaluable contribution to the development of the energy sector and for their strong support for the energy transition.
“The path we are heading towards is the path of independence from the fossil materials of autocratic states that have benefited from Europe’s energy dependence.” “The increasing threats of climate change make the energy transition even more urgent,” Kurti said.
On that path, according to Kurti, Kosovo will go with a friend, reliable partner and powerful ally, the United States of America, “which has already proven itself both in terms of our overall development and in terms of building our democracy”.
With this auction, Kosovo joins the countries that are leading the transition to green energy, Kurti said.
