The administration of President Donald Trump has announced plans to limit the number of refugees admitted in 2026 to just 7,500, as detailed in a notice published on Thursday in the US Federal Registry.
This figure marks a significant decrease from the 125,000 refugees allowed under the previous administration of Joe Biden, which welcomed individuals from various countries around the globe.
“The admissions numbers shall primarily be allocated among Afrikaners from South Africa,” stated Trump’s order, which also mentioned “other victims of illegal or unjust discrimination in their respective homelands.”
However, the statement did not provide further details regarding the countries of origin for these “other victims.”
