The Russian suspect has been identified as Igor R. He was allegedly involved in a plot to send a package containing explosives through a courier service. It was allegedly a so-called shaped-charge bomb.
In addition, R. and his wife Irina are accused of providing information to Russian intelligence. This information allegedly concerns Russian opposition activists residing in Poland and individuals and institutions supporting them.
European authorities have been on heightened alert since a series of explosions at courier depots in the United Kingdom, Germany and near the Polish capital Warsaw in July 2024. Western officials blame Russia for these incidents, although Moscow denies these allegations.
