Russian drone destroys Ukrainian train and injures dozens of passengers

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram posted images showing a train largely destroyed and on fire after what he said was a Russian drone attack, saying dozens of passengers and station employees were injured.

Zelensky called it “a brutal drone attack” and said “Russia knew it was attacking civilians.”

According to the governor of the region, at least 30 are injured. For now, there are no reports of fatalities.

Ukrainian authorities say over the past two months Russia has attacked railroad infrastructure with remarkable frequency.

Trains are an important means of transportation in Ukraine, where air travel is impossible due to the war. Foreigners visiting Kyiv must travel by train from Poland to the Ukrainian capital.
