Netanyahu Asserts Israels Authority Over Participation in International Peacekeeping Forces in Gaza

The international troop presence is part of the ‘peace plan’ proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. According to Netanyahu, Israel will determine which foreign forces are permitted to participate.

“We have control over our security, and we have made it clear that Israel will decide which international troops are unacceptable to us,” Netanyahu stated during a cabinet meeting. “This is how we operate and will continue to operate.”

It remains unclear which parties are open to participating in the peacekeeping force, as reported by Reuters. Trump has already ruled out the deployment of American soldiers to Gaza. The president suggested that Egypt, Indonesia, and Arab nations could potentially send troops, but it is uncertain whether they are willing to do so.

Last week, Netanyahu hinted that he does not want Turkish security forces in Gaza. Relations between Israel and Turkey have reached a new low following President Tayyip Erdogan’s criticism of Israeli attacks on Gaza.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed his support for Netanyahu on Friday. “The troop presence should consist of countries that Israel feels comfortable with.” He refrained from commenting on Turkey’s involvement.
