Five journalists killed after Israeli airstrikes in Gaza

Five journalists lost their lives on Thursday when their vehicle was struck near Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat, Gaza, during Israeli airstrikes, according to local medical authorities. The journalists, identified as employees of Al-Quds Al-Youm television, were reportedly using a marked media van to cover events at the hospital and in the nearby Nuseirat refugee camp.

Palestinian media outlets and local reporters emphasized that the vehicle was clearly labeled as a press van, suggesting it was being used solely for journalistic purposes.

In a separate incident on the same day, an Israeli airstrike targeted a residential house in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood. Local medical professionals reported that the attack resulted in the deaths of at least five individuals, with more than 20 others injured. Authorities cautioned that the casualty count might rise, as many people remain trapped beneath the rubble.

The events highlight the ongoing devastation in Gaza, with civilians and journalists increasingly caught in the crossfire as the conflict intensifies. Local healthcare providers have expressed alarm over the growing number of casualties, underscoring the urgent need for humanitarian assistance in the region.

This tragic development adds to the mounting toll of lives lost, further intensifying concerns from international observers about the protection of non-combatants and press personnel in areas of conflict.
