TOKYO – A US military plane has crashed into the sea off the Japanese island of Yakushima. According to the Japanese coast guard, it concerns an Osprey-type aircraft with eight people on board. Nothing is yet known about the fate of the crew members.
The American armed forces have stationed soldiers at several bases in Japan. The country is one of the US’s most important Asian allies.
