Unilever is not yet divesting Magnum and Cornetto, but is moving them to Amsterdam

Unilever is moving its ice cream division from Rotterdam to the centre of Amsterdam. Earlier, the food group announced that it might sell the ice cream division or bring it to the stock exchange separately. So for now, it will be a move.

The brand’s ice cream division, which includes Ben & Jerry’s, Magnum and Cornetto, has around 450 employees. They are expected to move to the new office in Amsterdam’s Reguliersdwarsstraat in the first quarter of next year, Bloomberg reports .

In March, Unilever already announced that the company wanted to split off the division. The ice cream brands had disappointing sales figures . According to the board, Unilever should focus on beauty products and personal care products in the future. The ice cream division would not fit in with that.

The company also wanted to cut costs and increase productivity, which would affect 7,500 positions worldwide.

When it published its half-year results in July, Unilever said it was on track to complete the spin-off of its ice cream division by the end of next year. Bloomberg also reported, citing insiders, that Unilever has begun initial discussions with investors about a possible sale of the ice cream division, which could be worth around 18 billion euros.

Another option is a stock exchange listing for the ice cream company in Amsterdam or London, where Unilever has its headquarters. The ice cream division had a turnover of 7.9 billion euros last year.
