Serbia has awarded a $335 million (323 million euro) arms supply contract to Israeli military technology company Elbit Systems, Israeli media reported.
The order includes advanced artillery and drone systems, Israel’s Haaretz newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Elbit Systems said in a press release in November it had been awarded contracts worth about $335 million to supply PULS rocket launchers and rockets and Hermes 900 unmanned aircraft systems to an unnamed European country.
A day later, Serbia’s president Aleksandar Vucic said at a press conference that Serbia had signed a contract for the procurement of “the most powerful missile-artillery systems in the world,” and “some of the best drone systems,” without specifying the supplier or the country of origin.
Haaretz noted that Serbia and Israel have developed closer relations over the past year. According to an investigation conducted by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) and Haaretz, Serbia exported ammunition worth 23.1 million euro to Israel between January and September 2024.
