Rioters in The Hague caused an estimated 34,000 euros in damage to the D66 party office on Lange Houtstraat during a demonstration against asylum policy on Saturday.
The unrest escalated when groups clashed with police and moved toward the city center, and windows and a door at the D66 office were smashed, with another door damaged by thrown paving stones, according to a spokesman.
It remains unclear whether the insurance company will cover the damage, the spokesman said; discussions are ongoing. D66 plans to seek restitution from the perpetrators.
Rioters also inflicted damage at the nearby Binnenhof. The Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning estimated the cost to the historic Lower House building at approximately 55,000 euros.
Some demonstrators reportedly shouted right-wing extremist and anti-Semitic slogans during the unrest.
