The victims of the traffic accident at the Valburg junction were possibly involved in a crime. The police reported this on X . In the night from Wednesday to Thursday, two people died on the A50. A third was seriously injured.
The accident happened on the entrance to the A15 at the Gelderse junction. The entrance is still closed. The police have started an investigation into the circumstances. They say that the investigation will take a long time.
The vehicle appears to have flown off the road on the approach road. The police are at least calling it a single-vehicle accident. Reportedly, there was no pursuit.
A safe was also found at the scene of the accident, the police reported. It was thrown from the car during the crash. The police suspect that the safe was stolen during a burglary.
According to the police, someone was seen in the area “who may have been involved in the accident”. It could be a fourth occupant of the car, a police spokesperson told ANP . “We have no signals that there was a fourth occupant, but we cannot rule that out either.”
Police cannot share any additional details at this stage of the investigation.
