Pro-Palestinian activists have taken to sitting on several train tracks at The Hague Central Station. Due to the situation, no trains are running to or from the station. According to ProRail, the protesters number approximately twenty.
Police are attempting to remove the activists from the station building and the tracks. According to an ANP reporter, about five people have been arrested and taken away by bus. Dozens of protesters had previously broken through the station’s access gates. Those present are chanting slogans such as “Free Palestine.”
The Dutch Railways (NS) reports that train traffic is expected to be disrupted until 9:45 PM. Travelers from Leiden, Zoetermeer, or Delft are advised to reroute. A train is stranded at the station.
Several hundred people gathered in and around The Hague Central Station to draw attention to the activists who were arrested by Israeli soldiers last night while traveling by boat to Gaza. The protesters are demanding that the government intervene in the case of the activists who were attempting to bring food to the Gaza Strip by boat.
Earlier in the day, riot police intervened against the protesters when they were at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After this protest, the group walked to the train station.
