CULEMBORG – The police arrested a 48-year-old man from Culemborg on Sunday on suspicion of money laundering and large-scale trafficking in narcotics. Hundreds of thousands of euros in cash, narcotics, a firearm and several cars were seized during searches of houses and business premises in Utrecht, Nieuwegein and Culemborg, the police reported on Monday.
The so-called undermining team of the police in Utrecht discovered the drug trade through decrypted chat messages. In Utrecht, the police also found pepper spray and items that can be used for drug trafficking.
The suspect was held for questioning on Monday. The police do not rule out more arrests in this investigation.
