Hundreds of dead pigs were found on an unspecified date in a barn in Limburg, authorities said, and the cause of death is unclear.
A spokesperson for the safety region said the deaths may be related to a certain gas and perhaps a malfunctioning fan. “But that’s all being measured and figured out,” the spokesperson said.
Employees discovered the dead pigs inside the barn, the spokesperson said.
All personnel are safely outside, the spokesperson reported.
The barn is believed to contain 2,400 pigs. It is not known how many of them are still alive.
