The third quarter of 2025 showed an average of 6 percent growth in sales of heat pumps for individual homes compared to the same period last year. This is much smaller than the 35 percent increase in the first half of the year.
Earlier this year, Dutch New Energy Research (DNER) reported that heat pump sales had actually increased sharply in the first four months of 2025. This was partly because buyers could still take advantage of more favorable conditions and a transition scheme. This scheme followed a reduction in the heat pump subsidy scheme at the beginning of this year.
The peak in orders at the end of 2024 contributed to the strong figures in the first six months of 2025, according to the industry association. The Heat Pump Association points out that demand for heat pumps, especially for renovations, is very dependent on government policies. Now that the transitional regime has ended, the popularity of heat pumps seems to be waning.
