AMERSFOORT – The body of 58-year-old Ahmed, who had been missing since last Monday, has been found in Amersfoort. This was reported by the police. The Amersfoorter was found in the Klein Zwitserland forest area south of the city, a spokeswoman confirmed after reporting by RTV Utrecht. According to the regional broadcaster, a hiker found the body there on Thursday morning.
Over the past week and a half, dozens of family members and volunteers have been searching for Ahmed, who was suffering from dementia and needed medication for psychosis and diabetes, among other things. The Veterans Search Team was also called in, but the search yielded no results.
A relative of Ahmed, Ibtissam, wrote on Facebook that the family wants peace to process the tragic news and arrange practical matters.
The cause of death of the Amersfoorter has not been disclosed. According to the police, a crime has been ruled out.
