Another roofer’s van burned down in Den Bosch

A roofer’s van in Den Bosch was severely damaged by fire early this morning in what police suspect to be an arson attack. The fire, reported around 6:00 AM on Monseigneur van Schaikstraat, caused significant damage to the vehicle, with its hood completely melted. No injuries were reported.

Fire Spread to Nearby Car

The blaze also affected a car parked near the van. Extinguishing the car fire proved challenging due to a ruptured fuel tank, according to Omroep Brabant. It is unclear whether both vehicles are owned by the same person, as police have yet to contact the owner(s). An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Second Incident This Week

This marks the second time this week that a roofer’s van in Den Bosch has been targeted by fire. A similar attack occurred on Christmas Eve, which was the fourth such incident involving the same roofer. CCTV footage from the earlier fire reportedly shows an individual on a bike approaching the vehicle and throwing an object over it, followed by a burst of flames.

Conflict Among Roofers in Den Bosch

Den Bosch has been the center of a bitter conflict between roofing businesses, with more than 20 incidents involving explosives placed in cars and homes reported this year. A roofer interviewed by Omroep Brabant in October suggested that competition for work is driving the violence, particularly during periods of dry weather when roofing jobs are scarce. “If it doesn’t rain often, there is little work,” he explained.
