In Amsterdam, a series of seven explosions occurred during the night from Sunday to Monday, sparking an ongoing investigation by local authorities. Police have yet to determine whether the incidents are connected.
Six Explosions in Amsterdam-West
The majority of the explosions—six out of seven—were concentrated in the Amsterdam-West district. The first occurred at 19:55 on Jacques Veltmanstraat.
Later that night, four blasts followed in quick succession in the same area:
- 1:51 a.m. on Orteliuskade
- 2:13 a.m. on Laan van Spartaan
- 2:15 a.m. on Johan Hofmanstraat
- 2:22 a.m. on Hoofdweg
Approximately an hour later, at 3:10 a.m., another explosion occurred on Jan Zijvertszstraat, further adding to the night’s turmoil.
Incident in Amsterdam-Zuidoost
In addition to the incidents in Amsterdam-West, a separate explosion took place in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. At around 2:00 a.m., residents of Krulslaplantsoen were jolted awake by a loud blast.
Extensive Property Damage, No Injuries Reported
The explosions caused significant damage to the homes involved but, fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
Investigation Underway
Detectives are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding these events. A police spokesperson stated that it is too early to confirm whether the explosions are linked. Authorities are urging witnesses or anyone with information to come forward to aid the investigation.
