About 40 cars go up in flames in fire at Schiphol car park in Rijsenhout

Several fires in a parking lot in Rijsenhout, North Holland, caused around forty cars to burn out in the night from Sunday to Monday. The parking lot is used for people flying via Schiphol.

The fire brigade responded with multiple units around 3:00 to extinguish the car fires. “When we arrived, cars were on fire in several places,” said a spokesperson for the safety region.

The largest fires are out, but the fire department expects to be busy extinguishing the fire for a while. “There are still a few electric cars on fire. They are more difficult to extinguish.”

At first it was said that forty to fifty cars were involved. The police now speak of “approximately” forty cars that were destroyed by the fire.

The police have launched an investigation into the car fires on the site next to the Bennebroekerweg.
