Iran is preparing a massive missile attack in response to Israel’s latest actions in Lebanon, US sources warn.
According to Hezbollah, Israeli forces did not cross the border into Lebanon. Both sides in the conflict claim that there was no direct clash between their fighters.
A senior US government official said Iran was preparing “in the immediate future” to launch a ballistic missile attack on Israel and warned of “severe consequences” if it did.
White House officials have not yet provided any evidence to support the intelligence’s conclusion. The official added that the government is confident in these estimates. However, Iranian officials could not be reached for comment.
In April, Iran already launched an unprecedented direct attack on Israel, but few of the Iranian missiles reached their targets. Many were shot down by the US-led coalition, and others apparently failed to launch or crashed in flight. Even those that reached Israel appear to have missed their targets, experts and an AP analysis said in September.
