Turkey’s entry into BRICS has been blocked by India because of Ankara’s good relations with Pakistan, writes the German newspaper BILD, quoted by “Focus”.
The assessment is by Sinan Ulgen, a former diplomat and expert on Turkish foreign policy at the Carnegie Foundation.
According to him, Erdogan wants rapprochement with the Putin-Xi alliance in order to strengthen Turkey’s “strategic autonomy” and show that “it can sit at the tables of NATO and BRICS at the same time”, as it is considered a “mediator” in the international arena.
