NEW YORK – Four people, including two children, were killed in a stabbing in Queens, New York’s largest borough. The police report this. Three people were also injured, including two police officers.

Police responded to a call for help early Sunday morning and found a house on fire in the Far Rockaway neighborhood. A man was just walking out of the house when police arrived. When the officers confronted him, he pulled out a knife and stabbed one officer in the neck and chest, and a second officer in the head. One of them was able to shoot the man. He was taken to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

When more officers arrived on the scene, they found a seriously injured 11-year-old girl at the front of the house. She was taken to hospital, but died from her injuries.

After the New York Fire Department arrived on the scene, emergency responders found the bodies of three other people in the home: a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman and a man in his 30s. A 61-year-old woman was shot with serious stab wounds taken to hospital.

Police believe the man shot was responsible for killing and injuring the victims. His motive is still unknown.
