Democrats on the US House of Representatives investigative committee have released documents. They include agendas and travel logs of Epstein, reports the US news site Politico.
A December 2014 agenda item mentions a possible trip by Musk to Epstein’s island in the U.S. Virgin Islands. At that location, Epstein allegedly abused several underage women.
Steve Bannon allegedly had breakfast with Epstein in February 2019. Several months later, the sex offender was arrested again for human trafficking and abuse of minors. In November 2017, Epstein had lunch with tech investor and Republican backer Peter Thiel.
During all these meetings, Epstein was already registered as a sex offender. The New York businessman received that registration in 2007 after a deal with the Justice Department. He thus largely escaped punishment.
The Republican opposition on the search committee accuses the Democrats of “selectively” publishing documents. The Republicans also argue that the Democrats are withholding potentially incriminating material on party colleagues.
Musk’s mention in the documents is striking. He previously claimed that Trump figured in the so-called Epstein files, without providing evidence for it. He later retracted that accusation. Meanwhile, documents have been released that reveal the contact between the president and the sex offender.
Epstein was arrested in July 2019 after the deal with the Justice Department was voided. A month later, the 66-year-old pedosexual took his own life in a New York cell.
For weeks, one question has hung over U.S. President Donald Trump: did he really send Epstein a birthday letter? Now the book has been made public, with his name in it. The White House denies, but his signature is under the microscope.
