Boeing settles with family of whistleblower who ended his life

Boeing has reached a settlement with the family of whistleblower Jason Barnett, who took his own life. Barnett’s family accused the company of wrongful conduct that they claim contributed to his death. The settlement amount is $50,000, equivalent to nearly 43,000 euros.

According to court documents, the parties have agreed to a “full, final and confidential settlement,” which concludes Barnett’s lawsuit against Boeing. The manufacturer denies any responsibility for his death. At the time of Barnett’s death, Boeing was under scrutiny due to safety investigations related to a 737 MAX aircraft that lost a door panel mid-air.

Additionally, the 787 Dreamliner, one of Boeing’s key aircraft models, faced delivery delays between 2019 and 2023 due to discovered technical issues, including the weakness of some titanium parts.
