US President Joe Biden said today that he has “full confidence in the ability of the new head of NATO, Mark Rutte, to continue our work for a stronger, bigger and more resilient North Atlantic Alliance than ever before”, reported Agence France-Press.
“The United States is firmly bound by the sacred commitment of Article 5 (of the treaty establishing the North Atlantic Treaty): to attack one of us is to attack us all,” added the American president, who praised “the impressive record of the former Dutch prime minister as a man, who achieves consensus and is a decisive leader”.
