Actors Javier Bardem and Mark Ruffalo will serve as executive producers on All That’s Left of You, a drama about a Palestinian teenager directed by Cherien Dabis that is due in 2026, Dabis said.
Dabis said the film is inspired by the experiences of her and her family, who are from the Palestinian Territories and Jordan. “It is the untold story of how Palestinians first became refugees, and how that history has led us to the present,” Dabis said. “To understand what is happening in Gaza today, we must first understand the history of how we got here.”
Ruffalo called the film “timeless and essential.” “Cherien Dabis and her remarkable cast tell not only the story of the Palestinian people, but also the universal story of everyone who has endured oppression, displacement and violence,” said the American actor. “I feel honored to participate in the film as an executive producer at such a crucial time.”
Both Bardem and Ruffalo have frequently spoken out about the war in Gaza and recently signed a statement promising not to cooperate with Israeli film institutions. Bardem appeared at the Emmys earlier this month with a Palestinian scarf (kaffiya) around his neck.
