Batman – the first superhero with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Batman, the dark knight with a cape that has been around for more than 85 years, has received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, becoming the first superhero in history to be given such an honor.

The star of the popular comic character is the 2790th on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is located next to those of the “TV Batman” Adam West and Bob Kane – one of its authors.

Created for DC Comics by Kane along with Bill Finger, Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939 and has been a symbol of determination, courage and justice ever since. He is one of the world’s most iconic fictional characters – a self-contained superhero who stands out not for his superpowers but for his intelligence, determination and technical skills.

Batman is recognizable all over the world thanks to his image in comics, TV shows, animations and movies. From Adam West in the 1966 hit series of the same name to the last screen knight in the cape, Robert Pattinson, his image has been reinvented for each generation by incredible creators both behind the camera and on the drawing board.

In addition to being honored with a star on the Walk of Fame, Batman also entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the first superhero to be so honored.

Batman also received other accolades from the Guinness World Records, such as that of the most Oscar winners for the role of the same superhero – George Clooney, Christian Bale and Ben Affleck.

Batman has appeared in cinema since 1940 and has continued to entertain audiences for decades.

A beloved film series started in 1989 with director Tim Burton and American actor Michael Keaton as the superhero.

In 2005, a new Dark Knight, heralding a new era of storytelling, was introduced by Christopher Nolan in Batman Begins. The films The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012) followed. In Nolan’s trilogy, British actor Christian Bale donned the cape of the superhero.

The most recent screen incarnation of Batman was in the 2022 film of the same name by director Matt Reeves with another British actor in the lead role – Robert Pattinson.

Meanwhile, Batman’s continuing adventures in the pages of DC Comics reach readers around the world every month. His story of determination and grit continues to inspire generation after generation because…He is revenge. He is the night. He’s Batman.
