Large dinosaur skeleton exhibited in Den Bosch after thousands of hours of work

A large diplodocus skeleton named Aurora will be on display at the North Brabant provincial government building in Den Bosch through Nov. 9 after an official unveiling on Thursday morning, the Oertijd Museum and the provincial office said. The exhibit follows thousands of hours of preparation and assembly work.

Aurora was unearthed in 1995 in the U.S. state of Wyoming and is about 150 million years old, the museum said.

Preparation and display

Under the direction of two curators, a team of volunteers spent the past several years completely preparing and assembling the skeleton, the museum said.

According to the museum and the county office, the result “is now ready to be shown to the public.”

The Oertijd Museum said Aurora is among “the largest and most extraordinary finds ever on display in the Netherlands.”

After the official unveiling on Thursday morning, the skeleton will be on display through Nov. 9 at the North Brabant provincial government building in Den Bosch.
