Italian art police seized 21 fake works at a Salvador Dalí exhibition in Parma last week, authorities said.
Police said agents confiscated, among other things, tapestries, drawings, engravings and various objects that were part of the exhibition Salvador Dalí: Between Art and Myth.
The exhibition started last week in the northern city of Parma. Police said they had been tipped off by the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation, which discovered “irregularities” when the artworks were on display in Rome from January to July.
A specialized police unit that deals with stolen or forged art is conducting further investigations. Police said that unit discovered in 2024 a large-scale pan-European network making and selling forgeries of works by Banksy, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and Dalí, among others.
