Tesla sues Sweden over ‘insane’ strike

STOCKHOLM (ANP/RTR) – Tesla has filed a lawsuit against the Swedish government’s Transport Agency. The move to court follows strike action against the American car manufacturer. As a result of these actions, Tesla is no longer able to obtain license plates for its new cars in Sweden, reports the Swedish business newspaper Dagens Industri.

IF Metall, Sweden’s largest union, is locked in a battle with Tesla to get a collective bargaining agreement for its mechanics. At the end of October, around 130 employees from ten Tesla workshops in Sweden stopped working. Members of other unions, including postal workers, dock workers and cleaners, have joined the action against Tesla out of sympathy. For example, port employees block the loading and unloading of Tesla cars.

‘Insane’

Due to the strike at postal company Postnord, Tesla will also no longer receive license plates from the Swedish Transport Organization. These are only delivered via Postnord, because all Swedish government agencies are obliged to use that postal company under a tender contract. Tesla CEO Elon Musk described the consequences of the strike in Sweden as “insane” last week in a message on his social media platform X.
