“We regret to inform you that the continuation of our restaurants in the Netherlands will cease on October 26, 2025,” Vapiano states on its website. “Despite all efforts, we have been unable to find a suitable buyer for the locations.”
Vapiano operates locations in cities such as Rotterdam, The Hague, Eindhoven, and Utrecht.
The chain previously filed for bankruptcy in 2020 due to financial difficulties faced by its German parent company as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Subsequently, the company underwent a restructuring.
Founded in Germany in 2002, Vapiano opened its first Dutch location in The Hague in 2007. The chain is recognized for its unique concept where customers order their meals using a card. Since its inception, Vapiano has expanded to over 155 restaurants across 32 countries, including Australia, France, and Qatar.
