Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook parent company Meta, has been the second richest person in the world since this week. With a fortune of over 206 billion dollars (almost 187 billion euros), he passes Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos on the list of richest people.
The new ranking of the super-rich is partly due to the good results that Meta presented this week. These boosted the value of shares in Meta, of which Zuckerberg has almost 350 million. This gives him a stake of about 13.5 percent in Meta. This year, he has already become almost 80 billion dollars richer due to the increase in the value of his shares.
And with that, Zuckerberg rises on the Billionaires Index, a list of the rich from financial news agency Bloomberg . He leaves Amazon CEO Bezos behind him. The third richest person in the world is Bernard Arnault, the CEO of luxury group LVMH (of Louis Vuitton, among others).
The richest person on the list is still Elon Musk, known for Tesla, SpaceX and X. His fortune is now estimated at around 256 billion dollars.
The only Dutch person among the super-rich is Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken. She has a fortune of approximately 15.5 billion dollars, which puts her in 141st place. According to Bloomberg, her fortune has fallen by 463 million dollars this year, partly because Heineken shares have fallen in value by almost 14 percent.
