Layoffs fall primarily in the customer service and sales administration departments. Sales administration is responsible for collecting restaurant data and updating menus. The deleted jobs will be replaced by automation and AI.
Everyone who was laid off was told this week. Solutions, such as retraining programs, are being worked on for some of the affected employees. This will allow them to continue working in another department within the organization.
On the platform, Thuisbezorgd customers will more often deal with an AI assistant, such as when reporting a problem with an order. AI should ensure that customers are helped faster, a spokesperson tells NU.nl.
Those who can’t figure it out with the AI bot can turn to human employees. “They will never disappear completely,” the spokesperson assures.
This is not the first time AI has been deployed by Just Eat Takeaway. Customers could already use the AI assistant in the app to search faster and find personalized offers. In addition, the company is experimenting with a delivery robot in Switzerland.
In a response to Het Financieele Dagblad, the company let it be known that for the time being it will stick to these 450 deleted jobs.
