China to Resume Nexperia Product Exports Under Conditions

On Saturday, Beijing referred to “a relaxation of the export ban.” “We will take into account the actual situation of enterprises extensively and grant exemptions to customers who meet the criteria.” However, the specific criteria remain unclear.

“China is taking appropriate measures to ensure that trade from Nexperia’s facilities in China resumes, allowing the production of crucial chips to flow to the rest of the world,” stated the White House on Saturday afternoon.

Last month, China halted chip exports from its Nexperia factories due to a political conflict with the Netherlands. This conflict arose when the Dutch government placed the company, headquartered in Nijmegen, under supervision. According to outgoing Minister of Economic Affairs Vincent Karremans, there was a risk of technological knowledge and intellectual property leaking to China.

Beijing deemed the Dutch intervention unjustified and responded by imposing an export ban on Nexperia’s Chinese operations. This action affected not only the Netherlands but also countries with significant automotive production, such as Germany, France, and Japan.
