British government helps Jaguar Land Rover with loan after cyber attack

Jaguar Land Rover said it is borrowing about 1.7 billion euros from a commercial bank, with the British government guaranteeing the loan, to help restart production at plants in the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Brazil and India after a cyber attack.

Jaguar Land Rover said the loan should help restart production and ease staff concerns after the shutdown. The company said many employees were sitting at home because of the production halt.

JLR said it employs about 34,000 people from the United Kingdom. It added that some 120,000 jobs are associated with JLR suppliers.
