A storm that swept through Turkey’s Marmara region on Monday and Tuesday killed five people, the Turkish health ministry said on Tuesday. 63 people were also injured.
The wind reached speeds of up to 130 kilometers per hour. Trees fell, roofs were blown away and minarets and bell towers collapsed. The storm disrupted air traffic and closed schools in several places.
Marmara is the area bordering Greece and also includes the cities of Istanbul and Bursa.
