The Netherlands strikes another win in Euro 2020 against Austria

The Netherlands is now part of the last 16 in Euro 2020 after winning the match against Austria in Amsterdam, by winning group C and leaving a game to spare.

The Netherlands also beat Ukraine in their opening game, and it’s now looking to advance further as they also beat Austria at Johan Cruyff Arena in front of 12,000 spectators.

After the wing from Denzel Dumfries, Talisman Memphis Depay was lucky enough to shoot the first goal.

The Netherlands had failed to qualify in the last two big tournaments, and they have managed to be in the knockout stages at the Euro 2020, since 2008.

On the other hand, Austria started off the championship in a positive way by winning against North Macedonia, but their progress will be certain in the last group game against Ukraine.

De Boer experienced criticism for using the same formation as he did against Ukraine, the usual 5-3-2 formation.

However, despite all this, he was rewarded since the Netherlands got a place in the knockout stages at the first big tournament after being part of the semi-finals of World Cup in 2014.

The attacker Dumfries has been a huge help of the system, he has played as a right forward. When the PSV Eindhoven’s defender was in the box after 10 minutes, the penalty was given.

This penalty let Depay score his 27th goal at international level, and within those goals, 8 have been scored since De Boer became head of the Netherlands in September, with 27 goals in the last 22 games for his country.

With this win, the Netherlands are to be placed in third-place either on Group D, E or F in the upcoming round.
