Rafael Nadal outlasts Diego Schwartzman in French Open 2021

Rafael Nadal, the defending champion has set a record in the 14th French Open semi-final after he beat Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman during a game that was played in Paris in front of 5,000 spectators.

Nadal, the Spanish 3rd seed, has acquired a record of 13 titles, and he won 6-3-4-6 6-4-6-0 against Schwartzman who is the 10th seed, during a race Court Philippe Chatrier.

The 35-year old tennis player Nadal will have a battle with Novak Djokovic – Serbian best seed, and then Matteo Berrettini – Italia’s 9th seed.

They will get to meet at 19:00 BST on Chatrier.

34-year old player Novak Djokovic, has steered clear from a fourth-round exit when he played from two sets down against Lorenzo Musetti, with a leading of 6-7 (7-9) 6-7 (2-7) 6-1 6-0 4-0 when the teenager Italian Musetti withdrew.

On the other hand, 25-year old Berrettini did not play since Saturday after an easy victory against Swiss’ 20-time big champion Roger Federer. During the match, Federer withdrew from the match thus the victory belonged to Berrettini.

Despite all these situations, the favorite player to win the title on Sunday is Nadal. That would be his 14th victory which means that he would be closer to Federer when it comes to most men’s Grand Slam triumphs.

The Chatrier allowed around 5,000 fans to be present after the pandemic restrictions in France were eased on Wednesday.

Schwartzman played without fear and with aggression, and that made him level at one-set all. This was the first time after the 2019 final that a player took a set off Nadal at Roland Garros.
